Mayans used a 405-moon lunar calendar that may have originated in the Canary Islands. The Canary Islands used a 270-moon lunar calenar. The calendar may have been created from an Egyptian 135-moon calendar that arrived around 900 BCE, as mummification on the islands shows that exiled Phoenician/Libyans had lived there until 400 AD. Mayan archaeological evidence is lacking to confirm the diffusion of this widely used calendar.
